Conflict is not necessarily a bad thing as long as it is resolved appropriately. The successful outcome of conflict can lead to increased understanding and better working relationship between the people involved. Sept. 21	VAHHA Teleconference - “Introduction to the Coding Manual.” 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. EST. This session is a great beginning to ICD-9-CM coding through an introduction to the ICD-9-CM Coding Manual. The Coding Manual is a coder’s best friend and the ultimate resource to guide you through the coding process. This session will highlight the differences and use of the three volumes of the coding manual, common conventions for coding that you must know and a guide to the abbreviations and directions that help you select the correct code. October 7	VAHHA Teleconference - "The Aide's Role in Medication Management" - 3pm to 4pm - Elderly patients are frequent medication users and often on many medications. Advanced age and frailty may increase their vulnerability and can lead to falls, injuries, and other problems. On completion of this course, the aide will be able to describe common side effects of medication, recognize when patients may not be compliant with medications, state safety measures, and identify the aides role in helping patients manage their medications safely. Nov. 18	VAHHA Teleconference - "The Aide's Role in Preventing Falls" - 3pm to 4pm. Falls are a serious problem for older adults. Most falls are preventable. The in-home aide will be able to describe common causes of falls, and institute safety measures to prevent falls. For a registration form.
December 9	VAHHA Teleconference - "The Aide's Role in Depression and Social Isolation". This workshop will help the aide to recognize the signs of social isolation and depression, understand some of the health issues related, and identify ways to help improve the patient's social isolation.
